Indian bites at Trader Joe's
if you have a local Trader Joe's near where you live, here's a few of my favorite things reminiscent of Indian flavors i buy there:
Cilantro Pecan Cojita Cheese dip - tastes just like Indian chutney
Pappadum - Indian bean crackers with tandoori & dill flavors
Indian Relish - Gujarati style tomato/tamarind chutney
Yoghurt Cheese slices - low fat, healthy cheese with jalapenos
Stilton cheese with mango & ginger - very British at the same time very Indian
Few other favorite things i like to buy while i'm there:
- Italian Chocolate Gelato - oh so delicious, oh so rich
- Great wine buys - i specially go for the small European boutique wines they help bring (at the same low cost as in Europe) to the US market
- Dark Chocolates - try their new Single Origin Chocs if you're a fan of dark
- Chocolate Truffles - so gooey & so rich

I also love the jalapeno yoghurt cheese, but I have not been able to find it in 1 of the 2 stores in my area. I read on traderjoefan.com that someone else had that problem. I guess next time I'll ask the manager.
I once tried the chole masala they had . It wasnt close to the authentic flava but was good enough to be consumed.
Try their new Chicken Masala with brown rice(in the frozen section), i thought it was pretty good.
We tried Trader Joes Masala Simmer Sauce. Cooked it up with fresh veggies and king prawns (not big meat eaters). It was definitely one of the better sauces in a jar that I've tried - we're gonna buy some more! :0)
if you like pre-prepared masala sauces (agreed, they're a great shortcut to a splendid meal), try the ones from Maya Kaimal: www.mayakaimal.com
btw, they say their sauces are available at the Seattle Whole Foods but i haven't found them there. I've ordered them online - it was a seamless process & they packed it with a cold pack to ensure they stay refrigerated
